Another Place to Go started as a way for us to keep track of our own travel plans and itineraries.
Before every trip, we spend a surprising amount of time figuring out how it all fits together: which places to include, how long to stay, how to move from one place to the next, and what can realistically be seen in a day. Over the years, these plans have become an important part of the journey itself.
This website is where we collect and share those itineraries. Not because we think there is only one way to travel, but because we know how difficult it can be to answer practical questions when planning a trip: How many days are enough? Which places work well together? How much can be seen in a day?
The itineraries on this site are our attempts to answer those questions.
How We Travel
We are a couple who enjoy discovering places, learning about their history, and understanding the cultures that shaped them.
Our trips often involve historic centres, archaeological sites, museums and landscapes, and we tend to build our routes around places and experiences rather than shopping, nightlife or restaurant lists.
Not every trip follows the same pace. Some involve packed sightseeing days and long drives; others are much slower. What stays the same is the planning: deciding what is worth combining, how much can realistically fit into a day, and how to make the best use of the time available.
Guidebooks and Inspiration
Many of our trips begin by reading guidebooks – particularly Lonely Planet – official tourism websites and plenty of research. We use them to understand a destination before deciding what interests us and how the places we want to visit might fit together. Our itineraries are not intended to replace those resources. Instead, we share the routes we developed from that research and our own travel experience to show what can realistically fit into a trip.
For detailed information about accommodation, restaurants, nightlife, opening hours and everything else a destination has to offer, we recommend consulting a dedicated guidebook and current local sources.
Where It All Started

This project began when two interests came together.
For Nicoletta, travel planning goes back to childhood, long before online maps and travel blogs. Family holidays were planned around atlases, folded road maps, and guidebooks filled with notes and bookmarks. Looking back, this website is probably a continuation of that tradition. The tools may have changed, but she still enjoys researching destinations, connecting places into routes, and making all the pieces fit together.
Rafael brings a different perspective. Curious by nature, he loves learning about the history, culture, traditions, and stories behind the places we visit. He can happily spend hours reading about a destination, and for him, one of the most rewarding parts of travel is finally standing in places that previously existed only in books, documentaries, and photographs.
Together, we share a love of discovering new places, understanding the cultures that shape them, and, of course, trying the local food along the way. Between route planning and curiosity, spreadsheets and history, this website was almost inevitable.
Why We Share These Itineraries
We created Another Place to Go for two reasons.
First, to keep a record of the trips we take and the routes we develop.
Second, to share those plans with anyone who enjoys the process of travel planning as much as we do.
If one of our itineraries helps someone answer “How should I organise this trip?” or introduces them to another destination worth exploring, then the project has done exactly what we hoped it would do.
Somewhere new is always another place to go.
